Sandra meets not only with bookclub, but with classes. Through Skype, she recently met with Forest Hills Central High French class. The letters she got back from the students show how effective this means of communication can be.
Here are some brief quotes from some of the responses she received:
"...it was a great opportunity to speak with you and have some of our questions answered!"
"It was really cool that we could actually talk to you about your book so we could get your, the writer's, perspective on everything."
"After talking to you, I am inspired to learn more and feel I have a new connection with the books. The hour was memorable..."
"I enjoyed hearing about all of the research and technique that went into writing these fabulous novels."
"It was so incredibly cool to talk to a real life author..."
"I found your input very intriguing and now am very fascinated by the genre of historical fiction."
Thinking of travel?
"Bookclubs travel!" -- for the bookclub considering a trip ... to Paris? Versailles? Martinique?

- Sandra Gulland.
- I am an historical novelist, hooked on French history. My publications: The Josephine B. Trilogy (about Josephine Bonaparte, Napoleon's wife) and, most recently, MISTRESS OF THE SUN, a novel based on the life of a beloved mistress of Louis XIV, the Sun King. The Trilogy has been published in 15 countries, and Mistress, out a half-year, is already at 6 and rising. She loves to meet with book clubs, either in person, speaker-phone or video conferencing. Write to her through the Contacts page of her website if you would like to set up a meet. She and her husband live half the year in the Upper Ottawa Valley in Ontario, and half in San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico.
